Eugene Close

10/28/47 – 7/2/23

Gene was born on October 28, 1947 to Martin Minniffee Close and Lucy Georgiana Close (Sellers) in Brandon, IA.  Gene, after getting his high school diploma, went on to serve in the United States Army where he fought in the Vietnam War.  He was honorably discharged from the Army and received both the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for his service.  Gene went on to attend college at the University of Missouri – Rolla and earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Science.  Gene worked as a software data analyst for Lennox Heating and Air for 35 years.

William Anthony Henry

(March 23, 1930 – August 2, 2023)

William (Bill) Anthony Henry, 93 of Wylie peacefully passed away August 2, 2023, surrounded by his family. Bill was born on March 23, 1930, in Seneca, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1952 – 1954 and held the rank of Sergeant; then, completed eight years in the Army Reserve before receiving his final discharge in 1960.  For his service, he received numerous medals and was awarded the 2021 Congressional Veteran Commendation.

 

 William Hubeny

1946 – May 27, 2021

William Hubeny, 75, of Wylie passed away peacefully in Plano, Texas on May 27, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mildred Hubney. He is survived by his spouse, Phyllis and sister Lorraine Karasek and niece Kim Karasek, numerous cousins and his loving, faithful pets Stana and Ollie.
William was systems engineer for E.D.S. for 30 years. He was the webmaster for Mended Hearts Chapter 142.
